With the all the comments being written about the new Transformers movie, I couldn’t help but chime in after seeing the film. Of course I’m a little behind the times, but here’s my reaction.
Transformers features absolutely the coolest live action giant transforming alien robot battles that have ever been put on film. Enough said. This sort of thing fills me with a childlike glee.
The action in most movies these days is way overdone. Action is supposed to be exciting. It’s not a good sign when ten minutes into an excessively long action sequence you start wondering when it’s going to be over so you can get back to the story (if there is one). Although Transformers does feature some long action sequences, thankfully I found them delightfully entertaining, and there is just enough story woven into them to keep you caring about what is happening.
Giant robots seem particularly well suited to being rendered with high end computer graphics and the artists who worked on Transformers did an incredible job. The transformations and the destructive weapons of the Decepticons were so much fun to watch.
